STM Azur: Montreal's New Metro Trains

June 26, 2012

Montreal Metro will have a new look.

Out with the old in with the new. The STM has come up with their new metro design. This new model is called AZUR and it is set to only be released in 2014. But a prototype is available for the public to see before the official launch date at Berri-Uqam metro station. The model is set to be here until july 2nd of this year, therefore don't miss your chance to come and see it in person.

Azur will have lots of improvements compared to the current model. It has anautomated ventilation system which adjusts itself according to the number of passengers in the wagon.

Another great thing about the Azur is that it will allow passengers to move from one car to the other from the inside using the flexible panels separating each wagon.

3 doors will be available on each sides of the cars and will open 27 percent wider allowing more circulation.

Wheelchair access will be available at each end of the train.

4 Multifunctional LCD screens will provide various information while 2 others will display the names of the metro stations and also any service delays.

More ambient lighting will be layout around the wagons which some will also be used as announcements for door closing.

Be sure to know that the Azur will be more safe, efficient and comfortable than the current metro in Montreal.
